Stormwater Detention and Infiltration

The UC Irvine School of Business significantly expanded with the addition of a major campus building.  The stormwater detention requirements were met with the installation of two RainSpace stormwater management detention chambers adjacent to the new building.  Total capacity was 35,350 gallons.  A unique challenge of this project was very tight access between building foundations and existing sidewalks and streets.  The site stormwater pretreatment requirements were met with RainSpace inlet filter wells with sediment isolator filter tubes (SIFT) to clarify the water and reduce sediment prior to flowing into the detention chambers.  The General Contractor was a major firm that specified RainSpace based upon previous experience with RainSpace chambers on other school installations.

“We’re using RainSpace detention chambers for the stormwater solution at the new business school unit because they’re cost effective and easily installed. Previous installations we’ve done at another school went very smoothly. The company collaborated closely with our engineer and project manager” - Rashmi Mehta, Hathaway Dinwiddie Construction
